Cheryl was raised on the dusty back roads of a small southern Louisiana community. Growing up surrounded by her Cajun French speaking family, she enjoyed listening to the stories and music of her heritage. Memories of sitting on front porches with her great aunts and grandmother, shelling peas and sharing tales are woven through her tales. She was one of six children, the only girl. While her brothers played music she fell in love with the rhythm of words. As they warmed up their instruments to play music in the local halls, Cheryl, at the age of six, warmed up the microphone with favorite stories of her childhood. Today she enjoys sharing personal tales and folk tales with audiences of all ages, whether it’s children in schools, adults in community centers, in living rooms, front porches or on a festival stage.
